Shortage of epinephrine metered dose inhaler

The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists reports a shortage of epinephrine in metered dose inhalers. Remember the ozone layer? Inhalers whose spray is powered by chlorofluorocarbons are being phased out with a December 31, 2011 deadline. That is the reason for this shortage. Here is the FAQ link from the FDA. You have options that must be discussed with a doctor. Any type of metered dose inhaler now requires a prescription.
