Shortage of injectable cyclosporine

The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists reports a shortage of injectable cyclosporine. This drug is used to prevent the body's rejection of organ transplants. Oral cyclosporine is erratically absorbed in the intestines, sometimes to the point that transplants are rejected. The availability of the injectable form is important for this reason.
