Shortage of injectable etomidate

As of July 6th, there is a shortage of injectable etomidate.

This is an even better time than usual to avoid emergency treatment. If you were to go to the emergency room with a dislocated shoulder, this is the drug they would give you to ease the pain of repairing the joint. If your blood pressure is already low due to some accident, this is the painkiller of choice because it won't make your low blood pressure even lower while your body is being repaired. If the doctor needs for you to be sedated but conscious for various reasons, this drug is ideal.

Various drugs can be used to start anesthesia in the stable environment of an operating room, but this drug is specific to emergency situations.
