Shortage of injectable aztreonam
The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists reports a shortage of injectable aztreonam. Bristol-Myers Squibb makes Azactam, the brand name version of this drug. They did not provide a reason for their shortage. APP makes the generic version, and cited increased demand as the reason for their shortage. This drug is used for the treatment of serious or life-threatening infections by sensitive bacteria. These include infections of the kidneys and urinary bladder, lungs, blood, skin and adjacent tissue, abdomen, and the uterus and adjacent connective tissue.
